Netscape Address Books and Bookmarks
Netscape stores user's Address Book and Bookmarks on the hard drive of their computer. However these 2 files can be copied or backed up to other systems. 1. Your bookmarks are stored in a file called:C:\Program Files\Netscape\users\profile name\bookmark.htm 2. Your address book is stored in a file called: C:\Program Files\Netscape\users\profile name\pab.na2
Backing Up Your Bookmarks and Address Book.Copy the above two files to a floppy disk or some other media (CD, zip disk)Restoring Your Bookmarks and Address Book.Note that the method below can be used to transfer your bookmarks and address book from your work computer to your home computer.1. Creating New Profile If you have a new machine and/or Netscape profile, you can overwrite the existing default bookmark and address book by copying your backups files to the new location and overwriting the existing ones. Importing Into An Existing Profile If you have an existing profile with an existing address book or bookmark data, you can IMPORT your backup files into the existing ones. 1. To import a bookmark file a) In Netscape, select Communicator/Bookmarks/Edit bookmarks b) Select File/Import c) Locate backup file (bookmark.htm) and select open. 2. To import an address book a) In Netscape, select Communicator/Addressbook b) Create new address book by selecting File/New Address Book Call it some like work. b) Highlight the new address book (eg work) and select File/Import c) For import format, select Communicator Address Book and select next. d) Locate backup file (pab.na2) and select open.
