Mac OS X Snow Leopard has just been released by Apple.
http://www.apple.com/macosx/what-is-macosx/

Monash University has already found that this version of OSX is not compatible with several core University systems, so it is strongly reconmmended that staff do not upgrade until all the problems have been resolved. Normally this will require a patch release from Apple which may take a few months.

NOTE: For staff who enrolled in the University Apple OSX Maintenance program, they will recevie a free upgrade CD shortly.

NOTE: For staff who are buying new Macs (University -owned), they can be downgraded to OSX 10.5 if required.

Upgrade of Sophos for Macintosh

The current Sophos client does not support Macintoshes running Snow Leopard.

On the 16th of September 2009, Monash ITS will release a new Sophos client that will be compatible with Snow Leopard and any other Mac operating systems from 10.4 and onwards.

The new version of the Mac client is 7.0.5 and it is not supported on Macs that run 10.3 or below.
Also, in December 2009, Sophos will be dropping support for the current Sophos client (4.9.26). Therefore it is important for all users to install the new client as updates for the old client will stop in December.

Please note if you are running MAC OS X 10.3 or less you will need to upgrade to at least 10.4 to able to use the Sophos product.

All Macs that are currently reporting to the Sophos Enterprise Console will automatically receive the client update on the 16th of September.  However if for some reason your Mac does not update to the new client on the 16th of September you will need to install the new client before December 2009, it will be available from this website on the 16th of September :
http://www.its.monash.edu/staff/software/antivirus/mac.html
